This isn't your typical museum mural — Frederico Vigil's 'Mundos de Mestizaje' is a monumental fresco that sweeps across the entire interior of the NHCC Torreón, weaving together centuries of New Mexico's mestizo history. The Torreón is a replica of a traditional Spanish watchtower — climb the spiral staircase to the top for a small but nice view of the NHCC campus and the Sandia Mountains. The building itself is worth a look even before you enter the mural room.

What to Expect

·The fresco covers the entire curved interior wall of the Torreón — a single, continuous narrative of mestizo culture from pre-Columbian times to the present.
·At just $2 per person (cash or card at the Welcome Center), it's one of the best art bargains in the city.
